ABOUT ME

Welcome to my little world!

First of all, I want to say thank you - for venturing into my world, and for taking the time to come and read about the journey I have found myself submerged in.

An introduction would be useful here wouldn't it?

I'm Alexandra; I'm a 20 something (the latter end) mother of one, with a passion for running and fitness - and no, I haven't always liked running, that is another unexpected side effect of 2020 that began quite unexpectedly in April.
Knee deep in lockdown madness and over the Easter weekend, my dad was taken into hospital and he never came home. It was unexpected, and it was life altering.
I always imagined I would be gracing my 50's, happily married with grown children before I would lose a parent. You know, how we imagine our lives will pan out.
But after a very brief battle with Sarcoma, my dad left this earth and embarked upon whatever his next adventure is.

I cannot put into words the pain that followed. I was stuck in a new world filled with terror about a virus that could take anyone away from us. We were house-bound, we couldn't buy the basics at the shops because they had all been taken in blind panic buying craziness.

Running quickly became my solace and I started a fundraising campaign for Sarcoma UK to run 100 miles and raise £2000 by my birthday in June in my father's memory.

Now, I am training for my first Marathon with the aim to raise £30,000 for Sarcoma UK and I have some incredible support behind me as I find my way through this new way of life I have been presented with.

So welcome to my Blog, where I'll be unpacking a lot of mental health issues and offering my unprofessional opinion whilst sharing my running journey and raising even more money in memory of my wonderful dad, for a charity that really needs our help right now.

I can't promise to fix the world, but I can promise that I will be honest about the way I see the world, and hopefully this will offer someone out there some comfort in the knowledge that if you're going through a difficult time - you are absolutely not alone.

I hope you find something useful here.

Love always, A
